Day in the Life of a CAL Kid

As adults, it’s easy to get preoccupied with what we need to do every day, but unless we pause to consider the experiences of others, there’s a good chance that we're missing opportunities to make things a little bit better for our students.

We've been thinking about what it’s like to be a Crow-Applegate-Lorane student in 2020.

What's it like to ride a school bus on a winding road in the dark for over an hour before school starts? What's it like to ride the bus yet again after a full day of school just to get home?

How much more challenging might it be if there's a pile of homework and a daily list of chores to complete. What it’s really like to go to school here in Crow-Applegate-Lorane?

This Friday, on the early release day (January 17, 2020), school district staff will get on the bus with students to experience “A Day in the Life of a CAL Kid.”

Once staff return to school, we’ll have an opportunity to share what it was like to get a taste of what so many CAL Kids do twice a day, every school day.

We won't be riding it in the dark of early morning, but it may shed a little light just the same. We’ll return to this space to let you know what we learn.
