Rules for Grads and School Work Packets

CAL Families are asking these questions:

1) What is the plan for the Class of 2020?

2) What is the plan for providing students with school work?

Many of you have waited patiently for information on these two very important topics since the Governor ordered schools to remain closed through April 28 just last week.

Events have continued to outpace the answers during this first week of school closure, but the answers are indeed coming along.

Here are the timelines.

The Class of 2020. Through the weekend, ODE will continue working on the rules regarding the status of high school seniors with input from the State Board of Education, the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, the US Dept. of Education, and the Governor's Office.

You can expect those rules to be reported to you in this space as soon as they are made available early next week.

Supplemental work packets and/or online work is being developed by CAL district staff. The time frame for the roll out of work packets is set to begin on Wednesday, April 1.

Operational details remain to be worked out including options for delivering work with student breakfast/lunch meals as well as school pick up options.

We appreciate the hardships that are hitting our families from all angles at this time. We are working to try to ease some of your worries to the best of our abilities.
