CAL SD suspends in-person services for two weeks

Crow-Applegate-Lorane Schools will suspend Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) for all grades as well as in-person services including meal service  effective Wednesday, November 18, 2020 through Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

This decision is based on Lane County's COVID-19 case rates and test positivity rates climbing to 176.0 and 8.9% respectively, and it coincides with Oregon Governor Kate Brown's two-week freeze to slow the current spike in coronavirus cases.

The school opening metrics is now well into orange-orange status and moving closer to red-red status.

During this two week period, staff will telework to the maximum extent possible including virtual parent-teacher conferences Nov.  23-24. Essential personnel will be on site, but offices are closed to the public and will have limited staffing to check messages. Please email staff directly for more prompt responses.

Lunch and breakfast service will also be suspended during the two week freeze.

The district shares the strain the pandemic has caused our students, families, and staff, and the adverse effect that the lack of in-person classes is having on our youth. We will be maintaining a close watch on Lane County infection rates and guidance from Lane County Public Health, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon Department of Education.

Please wear facial coverings, maintain physical distancing in public, and take appropriate precautions. Let's all take care and be well.
