Date:                   February 23, 2021

To:                         CAL SD Students and Families

Subject:             Crow Middle / High School to open March 15, 2021

Mr. Rodemack and the staff at Crow Middle / High School are excited to announce the planned opening of Crow Middle / High School to in-person classes on Monday, March 15, 2021. Families may choose to have their children continue receiving distance (remote) learning if preferred.

The most recent School Opening Metric for Lane County is now well within the yellow zone at 133 cases per 100,000 residents. In addition, Applegate Elementary School has remained open without a case of COVID-19 since January 27, 2021.

Between February 24 and March 12, 2021, students may arrange for Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) with teacher approval. Students are not required to attend LIPI.

Students returning to CMHS will attend on alternating days with Group A students attending Mondays and Wednesdays, and Group B students attending Tuesdays and Thursdays. Group assignments have not been finalized, and siblings in grades 6-12 will be assigned to attend on the same days.

The in-person schedule at CMHS is expected to run from 8:00am to 12:45pm, Monday through Thursday. This schedule will enable teachers to provide in-person instruction in the morning and distance learning instruction in the afternoon. Fridays will be used to provide individual student interventions including learning support for students who were absent or are struggling, communication with families, assignment grading and work/packet preparation.

Additional operating details remain in development. For more information, please contact Principal Kevin Rodemack at 541-935-2227 or email krodemack@cal.k12.or.us.

Respectfully,

  Malcom McRae, Superintendent

Crow-Applegate-Lorane School District 66
