Update: School Board Approves Master Plan that Includes $8 Million in High Priority Improvements

The School Board has approved a Master Plan for Crow-Applegate-Lorane’s school facilities. The plan will be used to manage the facilities over the course of the next decade and will help inform annual budgeting and long-term planning. It is also an important tool for the district as it applies for facility-related grants and funding.

The highest priorities in the Master Plan represent an estimated $8 million in improvements. The district would need to fund the first $4 million using local bonds. The School Board has not made a final decision to request this funding; it will be considering this in late summer, with a vote possible in November 2016.

The district hopes to fund the second portion of the work with matching grants from the state. This funding approach would deliver $8 million in improvements at a local cost of $4 million. (The cost of issuing $4 million in local bonds would be $.95 per $1,000 assessed value of a property.)

The Master Plan or other details can be obtained by calling the district office or downloading the presentation given to community members at two Open Houses in May. Information boards are also on view at Applegate Elementary and Crow Middle/High School. The Board and Superintendent will hold additional community meetings in the fall.
